Overview The Teller I conducts transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently while meeting or exceeding service quality standards. This position safeguards bank assets and contributes to the bank’s growth by promoting and cross‑selling bank products and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Receives, pays out cash, and handles negotiable items, loan payments, deposits, withdrawals and transfers (approx. 15% of time).

Sets up, closes and balances teller station (approx. 10% of time).

Records sales of monetary instruments (approx. 5% of time).

Assists customers with inquiries in person or by telephone (approx. 10% of time).

Maintains neat and well‑stocked teller area (weekly, approx. 5% of time).

Cross‑sells bank products and services (as needed, approx. 5% of time).

Follows limits established for protection of customer accounts and bank safety and soundness (approx. 5% of time).

Adheres to bank policies and procedures (approx. 5% of time).

Lifts coin bags up to 50 lbs. (approx. 5% of time).

Assists with balancing vault, ATM, night drop and coin machine (as needed, approx. 5% of time).

Assists with proper scanning of bank documents and proof work (as needed, approx. 5% of time).

Exercises judgment when applying holds and making check‑cash decisions (approx. 10% of time).

Cross‑trains to open basic new consumer accounts (as needed, approx. 5% of time).

Adheres to work schedule; flexible as needed (approx. 5% of time).

Maintains positive, friendly, professional attitude and appearance (approx. 5% of time).

May be required to work an alternative location within the region or market (as needed).

Willing to work in a constant state of alertness and safely (daily).

Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training (quarterly).

Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; 0–6 months related experience or equivalent education and experience.

Effective communication skills, verbal and written.

Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Common sense; ability to follow multi‑step instructions.

Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; standing, walking, and intermittent lifting.

Ability to maintain a positive, friendly, professional attitude and appearance.

Preferred Qualifications High school or better.

Additional Information

Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Must be able to communicate effectively.

Must have basic math skills and 10‑key proficiency.

Must have cash‑handling experience.

Must maintain a positive, friendly professional attitude.

May be required to work at alternate locations.
