Position Summary We are recruiting an Office Assistant to support the NYU Langone Oncology Hematology Associates team in Garden City. The role provides front‑desk support for clinical intake operations and may involve pre‑authorizations and certifications, excluding surgical procedures.

Job Responsibilities

Assist with front‑desk operations including greeting patients, answering calls, and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff.

Schedule routine appointments and follow‑ups for non‑pre‑authorized procedures; refer all pre‑authorization inquiries to the designated person.

Collect patient demographic data, verify insurance eligibility, and administer required patient documents such as HIPAA and other consents.

Enforce patient check‑in and check‑out processes, capture co‑pay and balance information, and scan necessary documents into the intake system.

Handle pre‑authorization and certification tasks for non‑surgical procedures, ensuring accurate procedure and diagnosis coding.

Provide financial assistance counseling to patients, referencing the business office when needed.

Maintain professional relationships with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff; type and file routine materials accurately.

Filter patient questions, ensuring clear communication and timely referrals to senior staff when appropriate, while safeguarding confidentiality.

Organize and process incoming and outgoing documents, including faxes, and maintain the cleanliness and resupply of workspace.

Assist in training or guiding staff on intake‑related duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, database, and internet applications. Accurate keyboarding abilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications Minimum six months of physician office experience. Knowledge of medical terminology and EPIC Ambulatory system.

Salary Transparency NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York State Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $27,770 – $51,206.48 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
