Patient Access Representative I – Emergency Department
As a Patient Access Representative, you will deliver an exceptional experience to patients, families, and visitors from the moment they enter until they return home. You will assist with registration, information gathering, payment collection, and insurance verification.
Responsibilities
Perform patient registration and collect demographic, insurance, medical, and financial information.
Cross‑train and staff all patient access areas, including front desk, admitting office, ED, and cash register.
Serve as a super user and train new caregivers.
Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED and 2 years of customer‑facing experience, or Associate’s Degree with 1 year of experience, or Bachelor’s Degree.
Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders or completion of a course within one year.
Basic PC software knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems.
Physical Requirements
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
Work in a stationary position for extended periods.
Operate a computer or other office equipment.
Possibly travel throughout the hospital system.
Possibly lift up to 25 lbs.
Personal Protective Equipment
Follow standard precautions using PPE as required.
Pay Range Minimum hourly: $15.75 Maximum hourly: $21.65
