About the Role As the Nurse Manager for the Emergency Room (ER), you will provide clinical and operational leadership for a high‑volume, high‑acuity Emergency Department. This role oversees daily ER operations, ensures high‑quality, patient‑centered emergency care, and maintains performance, compliance, and collaboration across nursing, physicians, and support teams. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership
Oversee daily operations of the Emergency Department, ensuring safe workflows, staffing, and efficient patient throughput.
Maintain readiness of emergency equipment, supplies, and trauma/emergency protocols for high‑acuity environments such as Level II trauma centers.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, emergency care standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Staff Leadership & Development
Lead, supervise, evaluate, and mentor ER nursing staff; support charge nurses and team leads.
Develop staffing plans based on patient volume, acuity, and surge needs; provide clinical direction and accountability.
Promote professional development, ensure competency validation, and support ongoing ER‑specific training (e.g., trauma, stroke, resuscitation).
Patient Care Oversight
Ensure delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centered emergency care in alignment with evidence‑based practices.
Collaborate closely with emergency physicians, EMS, trauma teams, and interdisciplinary support services.
Address escalated patient/family concerns with professionalism and clear communication.
Administrative & Quality Leadership
Manage ER budgets, staffing levels, operational metrics, and resource allocation.
Monitor quality indicators (door‑to‑provider times, LWOTs, throughput, sepsis bundle compliance) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Support hospital leadership goals and ensure departmental alignment with facility objectives.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of recent, relevant acute care clinical experience
Minimum 3+ years of Recent (Within the last year) Acute Care Leadership Experience
(Manager)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required
Current Registered Nurse License
in the State of Kansas OR Multistate Compact License
Current American Heart Association BLS Certification required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in high‑acuity Emergency Departments (Level I or Level II Trauma).
Advanced emergency certifications (ACLS, TNCC, ENPC/PALS, NIHSS) are common in ER leadership roles.
Strong emergency workflow, triage, and surge‑management experience.
Demonstrated success in ER quality improvement and staff development.
