Behavioral Health Technician (Full-Time Regular)
Schedule:
8‑hour shifts day/swing/NOC.
Location:
North Hollywood.
Hourly Rate:
$20.00‑$23.00 DOE.

Summary The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is responsible for creating and maintaining a therapeutic environment for clients experiencing mental health symptoms. The BHT provides supportive services, oversees daily tasks, ensures punctuality for scheduled activities, monitors medication administration, facilitates therapeutic and life‑skills activities, identifies substance‑use issues, and completes routine drug screening and behavioral logging.
Duties
Supervise clients to promote a physically and emotionally safe environment.
Provide an environment that supports progress toward treatment goals, emotional growth, academic success, and positive relationships.
Assist new clients in acclimating to the program.
Monitor clients during regular business hours and maintain attendance records.
Support life‑skills and educational groups, participate in field trips or excursions, and facilitate therapeutic workshops.
Assist with client move‑ins, moves, shopping, menu planning, food preparation, and housekeeping needs.
Provide transportation for clients as directed.
Enforce behavioral limits and administer consequences, privileges, and coaching as directed.
Handle medical emergencies under the supervision of the Program Director, Therapist, or Medical Director.
Support client recovery per Doctor’s orders and provide comprehensive clinical reporting, including detoxification and medication management protocols.
Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of client conditions and status.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound decision‑making, and the ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum two years of experience, preferably in a Joint Commission compliant setting (hospital, medical, or detox/recovery environment).
Proficient reading and understanding of English.
Current and valid CPR and First Aid certificates.
Valid California driver’s license and liability insurance if driving a personal vehicle on duty.
Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, squat, reach, lift up to twenty‑five pounds, and use a dolly or cart for heavier items.
Adequate vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
Experience with medication self‑administration processes.
Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of withdrawal, seizures, pain, high anxiety, low or high blood sugars, and other critically dangerous medical emergencies.
Capability to perform animal care duties.
Capability to perform cooking and cleaning duties.
Physical endurance to stand and walk for most of the working day and use small ladders or stools as needed.
Recovering individuals must have a minimum of two years of clean, sober, and abstinent history to be considered for employment.
