The System Administrator works primarily with a number of supported department(s) with their purchased or developed technology systems that enhance the functionality of that department(s) role. It is a partnership where the supported department has a few systems experts internally that are trained and understand the systems function from the departments point of view and service delivery. The IT System Administrator’s role is to help with the enterprise level functionality (install, passwords, connectivity, initial setup, possible training and technical intervention) between vendor/creator and department systems expert and not necessarily the everyday implementation of the system. Examples include: Health software for the health department employees to keep track of patients, or a phone system that helps a department communicate to the public with designed phone trees, or a county wide digital time clock system for Human Resources, or a county wide office suite (Microsoft) for all employees.

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for day-to-day operations of assigned system platforms: to include maintenance, operating system deployment, optimum security practices, product updates and general overall housekeeping. This position specifically assists in all things Core Systems for county government. Financial, 911 Systems Support, Employee Timekeeping, Microsoft Environment, Database Management and Back Up, and many other Core Systems need multiple IT attention for redundancy and safety.

These Core System Administrators work with the Department System Administrators to make sure the systems are up to date, and running efficiently.

RESPONSIBILITIES Education:

BS/BA in Information Systems or Computer Science or relevant field required from an accredited college or university desired.

Experience:

2 or more years of progressive experience within the information systems field preferably within the public sector. Prior network operations experience required.

Equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered.

Computer Skills:

Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint Experience).

License/Credentials:

Possession of a valid driver’s license.
