Job Overview One of TEKsystems clients is looking for multiple qualified candidates to support their IT department’s Datacenter Technician team. This is a great opportunity to grow within IT and advance your career.

Location & Work Type This is a fully onsite position in Mount Pleasant, WI. The role is a Contract to Hire position.

Shift Details

A Side Days: Sunday–Tuesday & every other Wednesday, 6 AM – 6 PM

A Side Nights: Sunday–Tuesday & every other Wednesday 6 PM – 6 AM

B Side Days: Thursday–Saturday & every other Wednesday, 6 AM – 6 PM

B Side Nights: Thursday–Saturday & every other Wednesday, 6 PM – 6 AM

Pay Range $33.00 – $49.50 /hr

Responsibilities

Prepares, stages, setups, and performs startups and shutdowns of racks, hard drives, switches according to instructions, checklists, guides and standard protocols.

Performs post‑execution quality checks, verifies grounding, staging, labeling and cabling are properly set up according to safety protocols, deployment standards and planned Network Design Tasks.

Performs diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures, quickly identifies the cause(s) of issues and replaces faulty components.

Decommissions IT hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) following standard procedures with minimal guidance.

Communicates, reports and escalates incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads.

Moves, inspects, installs and cables servers and switches to required destinations following provided wire maps; ensures cables are bundled neatly and connections are correct.

Installs additional components (NIC, drive, memory) and audits servers and consumables.

Troubleshoots servers, isolates problems, orders replacement parts, installs them and ships defective parts to vendors as needed.

Updates firmware on servers and configures IP addresses and default login credentials.

Assists network admins with server/switch issues, such as replacing cables, re‑routing ports, replacing optics, and installing upgraded components.

Temporarily racks, stacks and cables servers or switches in a cabinet for remote configuration.

Deploys and configures GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers and components.

Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Flexibility to work non‑standard business hours, including weekends and/or holidays.

Previous datacenter experience is a plus.

Desired: CompTIA certifications.
