Coxhoe Medical Practice has a fantastic opportunity for aGeneral Practice Assistant (GPA) to join our team, under an ARRS role. The GPA position is asupport role, covering clinical duties and administrative tasks to assist theGPs, enabling them to make the best use of consultation time.
The successful candidates will have experience of takingblood within a Primary Care setting. It is important that the post holder isable to remain calm under pressure, is efficient and organised.
The post holder will have SystmOne clinical systemexperience and knowledge of recording information in the Clinical system.
Main duties of the job
CLINICAL DUTIES Completing simple clinical observations/investigationssuch as dipstick urine, taking blood pressure, ECG, phlebotomy Supporting GP with immunisations/wound care Preparing patients prior to going to see the GP, takingbrief history and basic readings Explaining treatment procedures to patients ADMIN DUTIES Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow upappointments of patients. Extracting all information from clinical letters thatneeds coding and adding to notes Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements ofsome forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage,benefits agency forms etc. Data inputting and data extraction via clinical searches About us
Our practice based in the village of Coxhoe has approximately 7300 patients. We have our own car park and staff kitchen and common room. We also have a long-established practice based in the small market town of Chester le Street, which which has a growing patient population, currently 12,700. There are 8 GP partners and several Salaried Doctors and Nurse Practitioners. Our organisation employs around 50 people and our Partner-Practice Manager is Denise Minnis. Qualifications
GCSE/NVQ level 2 or equivalent; or detailed patient services knowledge Qualified in Phlebotomy Qualified to NVQ level 3 Experience
IT confident . Must have customer/patient care skills and have worked in a customer/patient facing environment. Competence in Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel). Ability to compile and analyse statistical information. Experience of working with clinical systems i.e. Systm1 would be desirable. Experience working in primary care Experience of working in a public sector/healthcare environment would be extremely advantageous. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
