Overview Assistant Golf Professional – Plum Creek Golf Course

The Assistant Golf Professional is a key member of the professional team and is responsible for assisting the Head Golf Professional overseeing and providing direction in several aspects of Plum Creek Golf Course's operation and instruction, including but not limited to Customer Service, Tournament Operations, Golf Shop Merchandising, Human Resource Management, Outside Operations, and Golf Programming & Instruction.

Responsibilities

Customer Service – Lead by example, always maintaining positive and productive relationships with Plum Creek's Golf Shop, Food & Beverage, Guest Services, and Volunteer Staff to ensure all guests receive consistent, best-in-class customer service. The course strives to exceed customer expectations in both service and value.

Tournament & Golf Outing Operations – Aid the Head Golf Professional by working closely with group outing coordinators from the sales process through the event’s operation to ensure proper organization and setup, with the goal of making each event a success and building long‑term relationships with clients.

Golf Shop Merchandising – Work closely with the Head Golf Professional and the Foresight Golf Retail Manager to monitor shop neatness, inventory counts, ordering, receiving, and rotation of soft and hard goods. Share customer comments and suggestions to facilitate an optimal inventory.

Human Resources – Actively participate in hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising the Golf Operations staff, including Guest Service and Volunteer Team members. Develop staff through coaching to advance effectiveness and talent.

Golf Programming & Instruction – Help organize and promote the Player Development Program, support the Head Golf Professional and Foresight Golf’s Director of Better Golf in promoting “Play Better Golf – The Foresight Golf Way,” “Learn to Play Golf,” Junior Academy, and Private Instruction.

Positively interact with guests to ensure a first‑class experience from arrival through play; be an ambassador for the property and company.

Maintain cleanliness of the golf car fleet, clubhouse grounds, and facilities.

Maintain professional and pleasant telephone manners.

Handle customer inquiries and/or complaints per the course’s policies and procedures.

Monitor the tee sheet with the GoPro staff to ensure maximum daily utilization.

Keep golfers informed of product activities and encourage participation; stay aware of maintenance programs and conditions.

Develop dialogue with customers about their playing habits, noting likes and dislikes for improvement.

Coordinate and communicate regularly with the Head Golf Professional, Food & Beverage Director, and Golf Course Superintendent on all pertinent matters.

Assist the Director of Instruction with individual lessons, junior camps, LTPG clinics, and other instructional needs.

Reporting The Assistant Golf Professional reports directly to the Head Golf Professional.

Employment Standards

PGA Apprentice or PGA Member in good standing (preferred).

Minimum two to four years of experience in a service‑oriented hospitality industry (e.g., golf course management, hotel, resort, restaurant, retail, or sports management).

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Effective negotiation skills.

Excellent presentation skills.

Health Insurance

– Health insurance is available through Foresight Golf with a 90‑day waiting period. If elected, the company pays the majority of the premium. Supplemental policies are available at employee expense. This program is part of a section 125 plan and is deducted prior to income taxes.

Retirement Planning

– Foresight Golf provides a 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan. Employees may contribute up to $17,000 annually; the company matches 15% of the investment up to 15% of annual salary. Participants must complete 12 months of service and be 21 years or older to be eligible.

Vacation

– Paid vacation: one week (40 hours) after the first year of employment; two weeks (80 hours) after the fifth year.

Professional Resources

– Communication: a company e‑mail address and business cards are provided. Uniforms: 3 golf shirts per year from pro‑shop inventory; other merchandise sold at cost plus 10%. Employee meals at approximately 50% off regular price.
