Overview
The Head Golf Professional is a key leader within the Golf Management Team and is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and delivery of the Club's golf operation. This includes oversight of the golf shop, practice facilities, golf services, and golf car operations, as well as the direct supervision and development of the Assistant Golf Professionals and golf operations staff. This role is highly visible and member-facing, charged with promoting an exceptional golf experience while upholding Bent Creek's service culture, traditions, and standards of professionalism. A strong aptitude for golf merchandising and retail management is essential, as this role directly oversees all purchasing, inventory, and presentation for the golf operation.
Experience Required
5 to 7 years of progressive leadership experience in a private, member-owned club or comparable premier hospitality environment preferred
Consideration will be given to current Head Golf Professionals as well as high-potential Assistant Professionals seeking their first Head Professional role
PGA or LPGA Member in good standing
Demonstrated experience with tournament administration and instructional programming at a private facility
Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with the ability to cultivate a positive, accountable, service-first culture.
Proficiency with Golf Genius Tournament Software and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, professional appearance, and a genuine passion for the game and the business
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Essential Responsibilities Golf Operations and Member Experience
Oversee daily golf operations including tee time reservations, starting, and monitoring pace of play
Administer the Club's handicap program in accordance with governing guidelines
Develop, execute, and manage a creative, well-balanced tournament and event schedule
Design and oversee instructional programs tailored to a diverse membership
Maintain a strong on-course and clubhouse presence; remain visible, approachable, and engaged with members
Leadership and Team Development
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Assistant Professionals, Outside Services staff, Shop Attendants, and Locker Room personnel
Build a cohesive, high-performing golf operations team aligned with the Club's culture and service standards
Establish strong working relationships with the Golf Course Superintendent and fellow department heads
Financial Management and Merchandising
Assist with the preparation of the annual golf operation budget, including forecasting and ongoing review of all golf-related revenues and expenses
Participate in month-end financial processes, including inventory management, counts, and approvals
Lead all golf merchandising efforts, including the purchasing, planning, presentation, and performance of soft goods, hard goods, accessories, and logoed merchandise
Develop and execute a thoughtful merchandising strategy aligned with member preferences, seasonal demand, and the Bent Creek brand
Maintain strong vendor relationships and manage buying opportunities, special orders, and trunk shows
Oversee the care, maintenance, and replacement planning for all golf-related assets including golf carts, range equipment, and electronic systems
Club Engagement and Governance
Work closely with the Golf Committee to evaluate traditions, refine the event calendar, and introduce thoughtful enhancements
Take time to understand the Club's culture, membership, and the broader Lancaster County communities before implementing change
Represent Bent Creek Country Club at approved local, state, and national professional events
Benefits Bent Creek Country Club offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance; paid time off; and participation in the Club's 401(k) plan. The Club covers 100% of annual PGA dues. Additional professional development and continuing education expenses are budgeted annually, with approval from the General Manager.
