Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provides services that promote and improve agriculture, agribusiness, and forests; protect consumers and businesses; and conserve farmland and natural resources for the prosperity of all North Carolinians. The Department employs approximately 2,000 employees.**Description of Work**Duties include assisting veterinarians during necropsy examinations, including cleaning, restocking and disinfecting the necropsy area. Other duties include laundry, janitorial, grounds maintenance, and shipping of hazardous diagnostic specimens. This position includes strenuous physical activity, and applicants must be able to lift up to 50#. Some weekend and holiday work may be involved.**Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences**Recruitment Range-$37,966-$50,000* **Ability to learn basic laboratory techniques, equipment, and terminology.*** **Ability to operate and perform minor maintenance on laboratory equipment.*** **Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions in some detail.*** **Ability to learn basic animal anatomical structure and sampling techniques to assist veterinarian in necropsy.**.
