Overview The Colorado Department of Revenue (CDOR) seeks a Senior Technician – Assistant Office Manager to lead the Driver License Office and provide high‑quality customer service to Colorado residents. Responsibilities Assist the Driver License Office Manager in adjusting resources and personnel for maximum effectiveness. Provide input and assist with annual Performance Plan evaluations, including quarterly and final employee performance reviews. Supervise day‑to‑day operations, coach staff, and resolve conflicts. Handle escalated customer complaints. Process complex or difficult driver‑licensing applications. Act as floor lead, manage employee breaks and schedules, and monitor workflow. Assist with accounting duties: daily deposits, reconciling employee cash/credit‑card receipts, verifying funds, employee cashiering. Perform front‑line functions, including issuing documents, when business requires. Stand for extended periods and, if needed, travel to another Driver License Office to assist with daily operations. Minimum Qualifications Four (4) years of experience in a public‑facing, technical customer‑service, or regulatory environment role. OR a combination of related education in Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a similar field plus relevant experience equal to four (4) years. Colorado residency and a Colorado state‑issued Driver License at the time of application. Preferred Qualifications Direct supervisory experience leading a workforce that interacts with the general public. Management experience establishing performance goals and evaluating workforce performance. Experience in coaching and conflict management. Experience in a regulatory environment or technical customer‑service workplace with the public. Intermediate to advanced computer and data‑entry skills. Driver License Fundamentals (DLF) certification. Skills and Competencies Strong communication, interpersonal and people‑management skills; ability to multitask, maintain confidentiality, work in high‑stress environments, and assist customers effectively. Conditions of Employment All personnel must file required Colorado Individual Income Tax returns and pay tax obligations, undergo a background investigation and reference check, and comply with the CDOR policies on honesty, integrity, and public confidence.
