Base pay range $100,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr Direct message the job poster from Sterling Engineering HVAC Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid) We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and coordinate mechanical systems for high-performing buildings across healthcare, government, education, and institutional projects. This role offers hands‑on technical work, close collaboration with project teams, and a clear path for professional growth. What You’ll Do Design and develop mechanical construction documents for HVAC and ductwork/piping systems Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and multidisciplinary teams Support project planning, schedules, and technical decision‑making Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and site visits Prepare system narratives, Basis of Design documents, and specifications Mentor junior engineers and contribute to QA/QC and process improvements Explore energy‑efficient and sustainable mechanical solutions What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering 5+ years of HVAC design experience (A/E or consulting environment preferred) PE license or ability to obtain within 1–2 years Experience with healthcare, government, education, or institutional projects a plus Strong communication, problem‑solving, and multitasking skills Software Experience Revit (preferred) AutoCAD Microsoft Office Trane Trace or Carrier HAP (preferred) Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin.
