SSM Health . Job Summary : Provides technical scrub skills in the operating room during surgical procedures and assists the surgical team as needed. Must be energetic, highly motivated, and dedicated to supporting the success of Saint Louis University Hospital. Key Responsibilities Demonstrate professionalism and maintain a clean, organized environment. Scrub any procedure within the primary cluster skillfully. Operate all equipment in the primary cluster; use computers for accurate data entry. Follow established standards of practice and infection control policies. Collaborate with ACU, PACU, and other departments to facilitate patient care. Maintain certification when required and complete all annual mandatory safety training (e.g., Safety/Fire, Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazardous Communication, TB). Provide service excellence by demonstrating care, courtesy, and effective communication. Participate in performance improvement activities, including data collection and research. Provide age‑appropriate care, ensuring safety, communication, and family involvement for all patient groups. Qualifications Minimum education: High‑school graduate or equivalent. Preferred: Prior OR experience or graduation from an approved surgical technician program. Required registrations/licenses: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent (BLS HCP, NCCT, or NRST). Working Conditions Rapidly travel between operating rooms; wear protective clothing as required. Regular exposure to blood‑borne disease, latex, chemical agents, and hot/cold materials. Work alone or with others; maintain safety awareness and problem‑solving skills. Physical Requirements Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking. Transfer adult patients, lift up to 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 100 pounds. Reach, bend, squat, and kneel to retrieve equipment and perform patient treatment.
