What You'll Do The candidate will review design packages and conceptual planning efforts for the Engineering Commercial Construction Office. Provide expertise for technical assessments, studies, programming, security hardware, code reviews, floor plans, equipment travel paths, and review roofing maintenance design packages. Cooperatively work as a member of integrated project teams with the Project Engineer, other disciplines, outside contractors, construction forces, architectural engineering firms, and management.
The successful candidate must apply a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts. Provide self‑developed technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems through designs and design reviews. Architecture and design work will primarily focus on industrial buildings, project planning and oversight, equipment installations, building modifications, and roofing maintenance packages. The employee will be required to comply with Government, Company and departmental policy, procedures, and requirements. Duties also include developing and implementing improvements to the department processes and references.
The position requires self‑motivation and advanced skills in understanding and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the architectural field. Working knowledge of other related disciplines and how those disciplines interface with architectural systems is also required.

Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) and 4 years of relevant experience
OR a Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA and 2 years of relevant experience
OR a PhD in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field with a minimum 3.5/4.0 cumulative GPA
There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years post‑graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript
Beyond four years from graduation, engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire
DOE Order 426.2A Requirements
In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job‑related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. Preferred Job Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architecture from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET
Knowledge of, and experience in, related engineering disciplines
Knowledge of facility business and operations support, resources, practices, processes, and policies needed to solve problems and accomplish work
Position requires knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to various engineering disciplines
Skills in effective planning, writing, organization, communication, schedule compliance, personnel management, and design management
Computer‑literate and have good working knowledge of software tools that support architectural design activities including computer‑aided design
Ability to prepare, read, and/or interpret complex engineering drawings
Ability to conduct formal presentations to plant personnel and other interested parties
Ability to review projects for technical accuracy
Ability present information clearly and effectively through oral and written word
Ability to work in a project team environment and communicate well with other disciplines, customers, and stakeholders
Ability to follow procedures and work within a rigorous work process
Ability to estimate, plan, and track progress for preparation of discipline deliverables
