Job Overview We seek a highly skilled Maintenance Specialist IV to perform advanced restoration, renovation, and maintenance of buildings and their systems. The role involves inspections, repairs, and projects across multiple trades, ensuring compliance with codes and standards. The specialist will also support disaster response and continuity operations as needed.
Essential Job Functions
Perform inspections, adjustments, and maintenance on building systems, including doors, fire alarms, sprinklers, carpentry, painting, and electrical components.
Diagnose and repair equipment, conduct in‑process inspections, and maintain accurate records of work orders and material requisitions.
Lead construction, maintenance, or renovation projects; establish schedules, assign staff, and oversee completion.
Operate machinery such as forklifts and backhoes when required; train staff and maintain training records.
Participate in disaster response or COOP activation, potentially requiring alternate shift or location assignments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
Strong knowledge of building systems, electronics, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, welding, and safety regulations.
Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, or sketches; organize preventive maintenance programs.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to supervise, work independently or as part of a team, and solve problems using sound judgment.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in construction, maintenance, or equipment/vehicle repair across trades such as electrical, plumbing, masonry, HVAC, carpentry, welding, or related disciplines.
Valid Texas driver’s license (or success in obtaining within 90 days); out‑of‑state license accepted with certified driving record.
Pass background checks, drug screening, and state registry checks; compliance with HHSC immunization policy.
Available for overtime, extended hours, and alternative shift patterns as required.
Additional Information
Travel up to 10% of time.
Telework not eligible.
Position is full time, regular, nonexempt.
