Job Summary
The Environmental Services Technician I at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for creating a clean and safe environment to support delivery of high‑quality care by performing daily and special cleaning that meets departmental procedure and safety and infection control standards. The role remains adaptable and flexible to support team needs as they arise and participates in ongoing professional development.
Job Functions
Perform daily cleaning of assigned areas (patient rooms, bathrooms, trash receptacles, high dusting, sanitizing and spot cleaning, inspection and cleaning of empty patient rooms).
Perform cleaning duties (including special cleaning and other area assignments) according to the standard operating procedures of the department.
Adhere to general safety and infection control standards.
Perform responsibilities in a timely, efficient, cost‑effective, confidential and professional manner conducive with the overall mission/vision of the hospital.
Perform other duties as assigned while demonstrating willingness, ability, and team spirit to provide optimal customer satisfaction.
Attend and participate in required in‑services, performance improvement activities (including EXCEL), and other educational programs.
Qualifications
Education High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (Required).
Licenses and Certifications None required.
Work Experience Previous experience in a hospital setting (Preferred).
Skills
Ability to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in writing.
Good communication skills to effectively communicate with inter and intra departmental employees, patients and their family members, physicians, and the public.
Must demonstrate knowledge and skills needed to proficiently provide service to a customer population, including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Must assume primary accountability for performing daily cleaning of assigned areas.
Must perform assigned cleaning duties according to the standard operating procedures of the department.
Must prioritize and make suggestions to supervisor regarding periodical cleaning in assigned areas.
Must assume responsibility for reporting safety hazards, and cleaning emergency spills when sighted.
Must perform responsibilities in a timely, efficient, cost‑effective, confidential and professional manner.
Must have extensive contact with inter and intra departmental personnel, patients and their family members, physicians, and public.
Must have good communication skills and reflect a positive, caring attitude toward both staff and the public.
