Job Summary
The Environmental Services Technician I at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for creating a clean and safe environment to support delivery of high‑quality care by performing daily and special cleaning that meets departmental procedures, safety, and infection control standards. The Environmental Services Technician I remains adaptable and flexible to support team needs as they arise and participates in ongoing professional development.
Job Functions
Performs daily cleaning of assigned areas (patient rooms, bathrooms, emptying and cleaning trash receptacles, high dusting, sanitizing, spot cleaning, inspection and cleaning of empty patient rooms, washing and disinfecting hospital walls and ceilings) according to standard operating procedures.
Performs cleaning duties (including special cleaning and other area assignments) according to standard operating procedures.
Adheres to general safety and infection control standards.
Performs responsibilities in a timely, efficient, cost‑effective, confidential, and professional manner, in line with the hospital’s mission/vision.
Performs other duties as assigned, demonstrating willingness, ability, and team spirit to provide optimal customer satisfaction.
Attends, demonstrates, and participates in required in‑services, performance improvement activities (including EXCEL), and other educational programs.
Qualifications Education
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent or GED equivalent. Required.
Licenses and Certifications No specific licenses or certifications required.
Work Experience
Previous experience in a hospital setting. Preferred.
Skills
Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally and in writing.
Good communication skills to effectively interact with inter‑ and intra‑departmental employees, patients and their families, physicians, and the public.
Proficiency in providing service to a diverse customer population including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Primary accountability for daily cleaning of assigned areas and special cleaning duties.
Prioritization and suggestion of periodical cleaning to supervisors.
Reporting of safety hazards and cleaning of emergency spills.
Execution of responsibilities in a timely, efficient, cost‑effective, confidential, and professional manner.
Extensive interaction with staff, patients, families, physicians, and the public, demonstrating a positive, caring attitude.
