Finance and Accounting Projects Manager
Global law firm located in New York City seeks an experienced and results‑driven Finance and Accounting Projects Manager to lead complex finance and accounting initiatives for our U.S. business. The role works closely with the U.S. Finance and Accounting CFO, leadership teams, and technical project teams to implement a new finance and practice management system, including policy, procedure, and reporting platform changes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coordinate, and execute all scheduled finance and accounting projects, including process improvements, documentation, system implementation, and compliance initiatives.
Work closely with global finance, accounting, IT, HR, and legal teams to align projects with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Develop detailed weekly project plans, set milestones, facilitate meetings, and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery.
Prepare and present project updates, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership.
Manage project budgets, resources, and risks, ensuring adherence to firm policies and best practices.
Facilitate training and change management for new systems and processes across the U.S. region.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA or equivalent certification.
5+ years of accounting experience in a law firm or professional services partnership.
Demonstrated expertise in project management methodologies and financial systems (e.g., ERP, SAP, Oracle).
Advanced proficiency with Excel and Elite 3E and/or Aderant software.
Strong leadership skills to work successfully with senior management and staff in a dynamic, inclusive, and collaborative team environment.
Thorough understanding of finance processes (AP, AR, Billing, General Ledger, and tax reporting).
Excellent organization, communication, and documentation skills.
Familiarity with IFRS and U.S. GAAP and tax basis differences for partnerships.
Strong attention to detail and proven ability to provide high‑level accuracy in work products.
Process‑oriented mindset for project management objectives.
Compensation Salary range: $125,000 – $140,000 per year, dependent upon experience level.
