Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role leads our 24/7 Network Operations Center (NOC), drives our transition toward SDN/VXLAN-based architectures, and oversees network integration for mergers and acquisitions.

Join the company recognized as the #1 Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Northern Utah five years in a row—now expanding across multiple states.

Total Compensation:

$80,000 – $100,000 a mix of Base Salary, Bonus and Stock Options.

Responsibilities

Own the network operations strategy and roadmap across all markets.

Lead the architectural transition toward SDN principles and VXLAN-based designs to improve agility, resilience, and operational efficiency.

Provide technical governance for core routing, traffic engineering, and network security policies.

M&A Network Integration

Lead planning and execution of network integrations for acquired ISPs.

Coordinate cross‑functional teams (Engineering/IT, NOC, Field Ops, Finance, Customer Support) to ensure smooth cutovers with minimal customer impact.

Core Routing, Peering & Capacity

Act as the final authority on routing design, implementation, and optimization.

Oversee transit and peering relationships to ensure performance, resiliency, and cost-effectiveness.

Guide capacity planning across backbone, aggregation, and access layers.

Lead the 24/7 NOC as the final technical escalation point for complex, customer‑impacting issues (Level 3).

Set and enforce SLAs for uptime, response, and resolution; relentlessly drive down MTTR.

Ensure robust incident management, problem management, and post‑incident review (RCA) practices.

Operational Processes & Systems

Define, implement, and govern core Network Operations workflows (incident, change, maintenance, deployment, and project tracking).

Align network operations with Business Support Systems (BSS) and Operational Support Systems (OSS) for accurate provisioning, billing integrity, and efficient fault management.

Champion best‑in‑class project management methodologies and tools to track work, resources, and deliverables.

Own network‑related OpEx and CapEx budgets.

Prioritize and justify investments, ensuring clear ROI and alignment with strategic goals.

Monitor network operating costs and drive efficiency improvements without compromising quality or reliability.

Reporting & Analytics

Develop dashboards and reporting structures to track key network health and business metrics (e.g., activations, deactivations, net activations, total subscribers, network uptime, average revenue over the last 3 months, MRR lost, churn).

Regularly report network performance and project health to the executive team and Board.

Implement systems and practices that enable data‑driven decision‑making at all levels of Network Operations.

Lead communications during major incidents—translating complex technical issues into clear updates for executives and other stakeholders.

Prepare and deliver strategic presentations on network roadmaps, risks, and capital needs.

Recruit, develop, and retain highly skilled network engineers and NOC staff; build a strong culture of ownership, learning, and accountability.

Required Experience & Skills

Industry & Leadership Experience:

10+ years in telecommunications or ISP environments, including 5+ years in a senior management or director‑level role overseeing mission‑critical network operations or NOC functions.

Advanced Routing & Virtualization:

Expert‑level competency designing, deploying, and operating OSPF and BGP in production, plus architectural experience planning and implementing large‑scale VXLAN and SDN/virtualized network solutions.

M&A & Network Integration:

Experience integrating acquired networks, including planning and executing cutovers, standardizing configurations, and aligning monitoring and support.

Communication & Executive Presence:
