Reports To : Controller
Job Overview The Accountant will play a critical role in both general accounting and manufacturing cost accounting, ensuring accuracy and consistency across general ledger activities, supporting audits, leading cost analysis, and contributing to strategic financial decision-making. This role is critical to the success of the organization’s daily activities and overall performance. The primary purpose of this role is to manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and perform general accounting functions to support the corporate office and TSS.
This team player will maintain a strong rapport with our internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations and financial reporting, compliance with company policies, accounting standards and applicable legislation. The role demands a high level of attention to detail, exceptional attendance and punctuality, and the flexibility to thrive in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing work environment.
Responsibilities Corporate & General Accounting
Manage the month‑end close process, including account reconciliations, accruals, allocations, and journal entries.
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations in compliance with US GAAP.
Assist in preparing monthly internal reporting packages for leadership.
Track & Report Actuals vs Forecast and Budget.
Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Planning & Forecasting.
Manage & Track Capital Expenditure budget and forecast.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors to support audit activities.
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Financials
Develop and maintain product standard costing models, including labor and overhead rates.
Conduct variance analysis (budget vs. actual) and monitor profit margins and cost trends.
Analyze Manufacturing variance analysis for production orders, & product lines.
Manage Percent of Completion accounting, billing, & revenue recognition.
Prepare and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial results for plant operations.
Reconcile inventory between general ledger and subledgers, supporting cycle counts and physical inventories.
Develop Financial Projections & identify risks and recommend cost‑reduction opportunities.
Prepare departmental cost reports and ensure compliance with internal controls.
Work closely with other departments to track expenditure and ensure proper authorization for purchase orders.
Assist in managing payroll‑related transactions, including posting payroll journal entries and ensuring compliance.
Process Improvement & Automation
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including standardizing accounting processes and enhancing ERP integrations.
Partner with FP&A to develop dashboards and financial reports that improve decision‑making.
Lead efforts to automate accounts payable, accounts receivable, and intercompany transactions.
Collaboration & Strategic Support
Work closely with the Controller and General Manager on financial and operational tasks, including forecasts, special projects, and decision‑making.
Collaborate with other departments, including procurement, HR, and sales, to support company initiatives and financial planning.
Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships.
Flexibility and Adaptability to Change Perform other related duties as assigned. High proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFs, charts) and ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics NAV or similar).
Strong attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture.
Knowledge of US GAAP and accounting best practices.
Ability to thrive in the dynamic environment of a small company, where roles often blend responsibilities.
Ability to pass pre‑employment background checks and meet legal compliance standards.
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
3+ years of accounting experience with a demonstrated track record of handling complex accounting functions.
Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing or similar environment (strongly preferred).
Experience in a lean manufacturing environment with a focus on cost reduction, process improvement, and efficiency gains (preferred).
Familiarity with pricing, quoting, and budgeting techniques and the ability to contribute to financial decision‑making processes (a plus).
Familiarity with Percentage of Completion accounting for large projects.
Physical And Travel Requirements
On‑Site Requirement: This is a primarily on‑site role; candidates must be available to work full‑time at the company's main office location.
Physical Demands: Ability to sit and work at a desk or computer workstation for extended periods (8+ hours per day), with occasional standing or walking required. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed (e.g., files, equipment, or supplies).
Ability to occasionally travel (up to 10%) to regional plant locations is preferred.
