Position Overview We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Sr. Crew Chiefs/Survey Managers to join our team in 2026, to lead field survey operations for heavy civil infrastructure (highway/bridge) and power/energy projects across the United States. You will play an integral role in leading survey teams on projects ranging from $50 M to $1 B, working within tight tolerances and ensuring accuracy in the field. Our Survey Managers establish and maintain methods for a safe, accurate, and efficient survey and control on our projects.

Responsibilities include contractual requirements, design model review, and field survey operations; you should plan to spend around 50% of your time in the field observing and instructing survey operations on the job site. This role requires strong technical expertise in surveying, team leadership, and collaboration with engineering and construction teams to ensure precision and efficiency in all surveying activities.

Location Support projects in the Colorado region and other states in the Central United States (CO, MT, WY, NM, ND, SD, NE, KS, MO, IA, MN). Willingness to travel to project sites as needed and occasional visits to the district office in Lone Tree, Colorado for training and meetings. Per diem and trips home are provided.

Responsibilities

Oversee all surveying operations for the construction of assigned projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to project specifications.

Develop and implement surveying plans, methodologies, and best practices to optimize field data collection and layout.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop survey plans and schedules.

Lead a team of surveyors and field personnel, providing training, mentorship, and technical guidance.

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure alignment between design intent and field execution.

Utilize advanced surveying technology, including GPS, total stations, LiDAR, and drones, to capture and analyze data.

Conduct quality control checks to verify survey accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements.

Manage survey data processing, ensuring integration with project management and BIM software.

Prepare and maintain detailed survey reports, logs, and documentation for project records.

Ensure all survey activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and standards.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements in all surveying activities.

Troubleshoot and resolve survey-related challenges on-site, adapting to changing project conditions.

Skilled with Trimble Business Center and with CAD (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation); use CAD to perform calculations and key in elevations from plans and drawings.

Communicate effectively with superintendents, field crews, engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and deliverables.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree preferred; Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification is an asset (assistance provided for certification).

10+ years of field construction survey experience and leadership of survey crews; experience with heavy civil highway, bridge, power plants, water, tunneling projects is preferred.

Proficiency with Trimble Access/Business Center required.

Proficiency with surveying equipment (GPS, total stations, LiDAR) and data collection tools (drones).

Strong math skills for basic algebra and geometry calculations (area, volume, circumference, proportion, percentage).

Advanced experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation) and GIS platforms required; proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Dynamic thinker who can lead, motivate, mentor, and manage performance; self‑starter with a high standard for safety, quality, and productivity.

Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and solve problems effectively.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally.

Accustomed to outdoor fieldwork in varied terrain and weather conditions.

Willing to travel to projects; per diem and trips home provided for long durations.

Physical ability to lift equipment and perform manual tasks; strong work ethic with a commitment to safety and quality.

Base Compensation $90,000 – $150,000 (actual compensation may vary due to education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
