Position Overview We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Senior Crew Chiefs/Survey Managers to join our team in 2026, leading field survey operations for heavy civil infrastructure projects across the United States. These projects range from $50 M to $1 B and include highways, bridges, power plants, and water/wastewater facilities. The Survey Manager will establish and maintain methods for safe, accurate, and efficient survey and control operations, oversee contractual requirements, design model review, and field survey activities. Approximately 50% of the time will be spent in the field observing and instructing survey operations on job sites.

Location As a Survey Manager you will support projects in Colorado and other states in the Central United States (CO, MT, WY, NM, ND, SD, NE, KS, MO, IA, MN). The role requires willingness to travel to project sites as needed and occasional visits to the district office in Lone Tree, Colorado for training and meetings. Project-related travel reimbursements include per diem and trips home.

Responsibilities

Oversee all surveying operations for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to specifications.

Develop and implement surveying plans, methodologies, and best practices to optimize field data collection and layout.

Lead a team of surveyors and field personnel, providing training, mentorship, and technical guidance.

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure alignment between design intent and field execution.

Utilize advanced surveying technology, including GPS, total stations, LiDAR, and drones, to capture and analyze data.

Conduct quality control checks to verify survey accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements.

Manage survey data processing and ensure integration with project management and BIM software.

Prepare and maintain detailed survey reports, logs, and documentation for project records.

Ensure all survey activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and standards.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements in all surveying activities.

Troubleshoot and resolve survey-related challenges on‑site, adapting to changing project conditions.

Use Trimble Business Center and CAD tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation) for calculations and data integration.

Communicate effectively with superintendents, field crews, engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and deliverables.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification is an asset (we assist with certification).

10+ years of field construction survey experience, including leadership of survey crews, dimensional control, industrial measurements, and field surveys in heavy civil, bridge, power plant, water, and tunneling projects.

Proficiency with Trimble Access/Business Center.

Proficiency with survey equipment such as GPS, total stations, LiDAR, and drones.

Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry for calculations (area, volume, circumference, proportion, percentage).

Advanced experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation) and GIS platforms.

Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Dynamic thinker, self‑starter, with strong leadership, safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels and solving problems effectively.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally.

Comfortable with outdoor fieldwork in varied terrain and weather conditions.

Willingness to travel as necessary, with provided per diem and trip home benefits.

Physical ability to lift equipment and perform manual tasks; strong work ethic and commitment to safety.

Compensation Base Compensation: $90,000 – $150,000. Actual compensation may vary based on education, experience, skill set, and/or location.
