About The Role
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Services Attorney is an integral part of Latham’s AI vision. This role will be responsible for operationalizing AI‑powered solutions to support case teams throughout the full lifecycle of a matter—from client outreach through trial and appeal or deal closing—while partnering with attorneys across practice groups to identify areas where AI support could improve efficiency, clarity, or speed of execution. This role will be located in our New York or Los Angeles office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in‑office presence.
Responsibilities
Serving as a dedicated resource for litigation or transactional attorneys seeking AI support, offering responsive, high‑touch assistance with prompt design, refinement, and execution tailored to specific litigation or transactional tasks
Assisting litigation or transactional practice groups in adopting AI‑enabled workflows through proactive outreach and hands‑on support —developing and executing AI prompts that align with case strategy, matter objectives, and jurisdictional nuances
Working collaboratively across practice groups to gather feedback, assess needs, and identify new opportunities for specialized AI‑driven support
Standardizing and scaling successful AI solutions across litigation or transactional practice groups in close collaboration with the firm’s Innovation Attorneys and other Technology and Information Services stakeholders, as well as with the firm’s practice group and global leadership
Actively participating in technology‑related working groups, interdisciplinary practice group management teams, prompting support cohorts, and emerging technology pilots, while collaborating with the Innovation Attorneys to prepare and deliver technology presentations and trainings related to creative and practical uses for AI in litigation practice, and assisting in the development of web content that highlights strategies for leveraging AI throughout each litigation phase
Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
Qualifications
Demonstrate outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
Exhibit an ability to think creatively and provide strategic support to firm leadership
Possess extensive knowledge of the concepts and principles of artificial intelligence as it relates to legal matters
Thrive in a service‑oriented environment, bringing responsiveness, reliability, and a proactive mindset to support litigators and cross‑functional teams
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a law firm as an innovation and/or practicing litigation or transactional attorney
Demonstrated interest in legal technology, innovation, and/or AI tools, and experience in prompt design or AI project work, preferably
A JD degree from an American Bar Association (ABA)-accredited law school
Admission to a relevant U.S. state bar
