Equipment Materiel Specialist
– Caltrans District 3
Location: 1993 Marina Blvd., San Leandro, Alameda County.
Salary: $4,623.00 – $5,533.00 per month.
Job Description and Duties While working for the Caltrans Division of Equipment (DOE), in an Equipment Shop, the Equipment Materiel Specialist (EMS) receives supervision from the Equipment Materiel Manager II and day‑to‑day direction from the Senior Equipment Materiel Specialist. The EMS performs equipment materiel operations work concerning the purchasing, inventory, disbursement, shipping, and receiving of equipment parts, materiel, related equipment and services for the fabrication, maintenance, repair and disposal of mobile equipment.
Responsibilities
Purchase, inventory, and control of equipment parts and materiel.
Disburse, ship, and receive equipment components, supplies, and related services.
Support fabrication, maintenance, repair, and disposal of mobile equipment.
Coordinate with shop parts department, storage areas, warehouses, field mechanic locations, and highway maintenance warehouses.
Adhere to safety, cleanliness, and environmental standards while working in varied conditions.
Eligibility Eligibility may be determined by a score on the Equipment Materiel Specialist exam. Candidates who are not currently eligible (e.g., new to state civil service) must be on the state examination list.

Special Requirements
Must possess a valid class C driver’s license.
Working Conditions Work primarily in the shop parts department and may need to work in outside storage areas, warehouses, distant field mechanic locations, or highway maintenance warehouses. Incumbent may be exposed to dirt, noise, uneven surfaces, hazardous materials, and various temperatures. May require travel, shift changes, overtime, and the ability to work during emergencies.
