Location & Salary Position located at 7179 Opportunity Road, San Diego, San Diego County. Salary: $5,608.00 – $6,723.00 per month.

Responsibilities Within the Division of Equipment (DOE) and under the direction of a Highway Mechanic Supervisor and/or Caltrans Heavy Equipment Mechanic Leadworker, the incumbent will work in a shop and/or field environment, constructing, inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing various equipment used in the Department's fleet. The incumbent will complete records and reports, use computers for various tasks, and may assist in instructing or directing helpers, apprentices, or other employees. Duties may require working outside, traveling to field mechanic locations or highway maintenance stations, and operating in inclement weather.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Class C driver license.
Background in heavy equipment maintenance; possession of a Caltrans Heavy Equipment Mechanic examination score (or eligibility to take the exam).
Demonstrated experience in inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment in a shop or field setting.
Special Requirements
Valid California Driver’s License (CDL). Provide CDL number, class, expiration date, and endorsements.
Drug screening required prior to hiring.
