Position Overview We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Surveyors and Crew Chiefs to lead field survey operations for heavy civil infrastructure (highway/bridge) and energy projects across the United States. Ideal candidates possess at least 3 years of construction survey experience, strong leadership capabilities, and expertise in dimensional control, industrial measurement, and field surveying. The role focuses on establishing and maintaining safe, accurate, and efficient Survey Field Operations and ensuring field accuracy for construction projects.

Responsibilities

Implement Project Survey plants according to instruction and lead Field Survey Operations.

Operate advanced equipment (GPS, robotic total stations, 3D laser scanners, data collectors) and use CAD (AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation) to create layouts and convert drawings to Trimble Business Center.

Interpret plans and legal documents, set and maintain control networks, and ensure tight vertical and horizontal tolerances.

Review and validate field data for accuracy before submission to project teams and maintain accurate field notes and documentation.

Coordinate with superintendents, field crews, engineers, project managers, and clients to align scope, schedule, and deliverables.

Uphold safety standards and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications

4+ years of field construction survey experience, with preference for heavy civil highway, bridge construction, power plants, water, and tunneling.

Strong understanding of construction staking, boundary analysis, and control networks; experience running instruments and training others.

Proficiency with Trimble Access/Business Center, or similar systems (Leica, Topcon).

Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation) and GIS platforms preferred.

LSIT or PLS certification is a plus; willingness to obtain certifications with Kiewit support.

Valid driver’s license, regional travel, and accommodation for per diem and trips home.

Physical ability to lift equipment and perform manual tasks; strong communication skills and strong work ethic.

Willingness to work 50-60 hours per week, including weekends and overtime.

Base Compensation $67,000 - $100,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation based on education, experience, skillset, and location).
