Pay Range Base pay: $74,193.00/yr - $94,121.00/yr (range provided by NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities; actual pay determined by skills and experience).
Duties Description
Oversee, administer, and manage food and nutrition program(s).
Develop, review, implement, and monitor nutrition program policies and procedures; oversee development and maintenance of nutrition manuals and guidance materials.
Conduct and supervise inspections of food preparation, service areas, and meals; develop and oversee implementation of corrective action plans to ensure compliance with nutrition plans, standards, regulations, and requirements.
Serve as liaison with agency, facility, and/or community program staff and outside entities; provide guidance, direction, and training on nutrition counseling, policies and procedures, and food preparation, sanitation, and safety standards.
Consult with nutrition and health‑care staff to coordinate care, resolve issues, and ensure individuals’ nutritional needs are met.
Represent the nutrition discipline on workgroups and committees.
Develop nutrition program budgets and monitor fund expenditures.
Supervise Dietitians and other food and nutrition staff.
Conduct and review nutrition assessments; develop, review, and evaluate special diet, menu, and food plans, including modifications, substitutions, and recipe standardization.
Determine and oversee staff assignments; approve leave and track time and attendance; monitor and evaluate performance; identify training needs and arrange training; participate in staff recruitment, selection, and orientation.
Minimum Qualifications
Current registration with the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or certification in Dietetics‑Nutrition by the New York State Education Department (NYSED); and one year of service as a Dietitian 2 ( promotional).
Current registration with the CDR as an RD or certification in Dietetics‑Nutrition by the NYSED; two years of post‑registration/certification professional administrative experience in a food or nutrition program, one year at a supervisory level ( competitive).
Eligible for transfer: one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/c status in the posted title and eligible for lateral transfer, or via sections 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law; transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.
Eligibility can be verified via the Career Mobility GOT‑IT website.
Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
Employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non‑competitive status converted to permanent competitive status within one year of permanent appointment.
