Job Overview
Direct Support Professional (DSP) Shift: Sunday 8am‑4pm, Monday‑Thursday 7am‑3pm. Pay Range: $20.50–$21.00 per hour (depending on years of experience). Gallagher Services supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living the life of their choice. Adults are supported to live, work, and be involved in the community as independently as possible. The program is built on Person‑Centered Planning and the mission and values of Catholic Charities. Job Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the Manager of Community Supports with the overall operation of the home (including training new DSPs, attending PCP meetings, monthly paperwork, on‑call tasks, etc.). Schedule and monitor medical appointments, review MARs, oversee medication ordering and checks. Complete PCP reviews under the guidance of the Manager of Community Supports. Education & Experience Requirements
3 years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Valid health certificate to meet current funding jurisdiction requirements. Ability to move and adjust minimum of 75 pounds, stand for periods of time, bend, push wheelchairs, provide physical intervention as necessary, and lift and/or transfer people. Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with people supported. DSPs may be deployed to another setting during working times on a short‑term basis or as an interim assignment, may need to remain on shift outside of scheduled hours and/or make site/location changes to provide adequate staff coverage. Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) required. Driver must be at least 21 years of age, have a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence, no state‑issued restrictions that would impede vehicle operation, and no more than three points on their driving record. Skills & Competencies
Ability to drive multiple agency vehicles following traffic rules and safety precautions, including safe driving and securing people who use wheelchairs. Maintains a safe environment for patients and co‑workers. Comfortable in an environment in which patients/clients cannot perform basic life duties. Understanding of basic concepts of personal care, housekeeping, and other care areas. Ability to relate to, empathize with, and show compassion for a variety of personalities. Writes clearly and effectively for reports, diaries, and other written communication. Ability to utilize, or learn to utilize, computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions. Basic PC, web browsing, and Microsoft Outlook skills preferred. Benefits
