Miami Jewish Health is one of the largest providers of healthcare and living options for aging adults in the Southeast. We operate Florida PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) Centers, the largest PACE program in Florida, which serves as health plan, healthcare provider, and social center designed for older adults with complex medical needs. We have four adult day health centers that serve participants in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
Job Summary Under the general supervision of the clinic manager RN and medical director of Florida PACE Centers, facilitates the provision of pharmacy services to any participants enrolled in the program.
Essential Job Functions
Primary point of contact for the vendor pharmacy and PACE participants regarding pharmacy requests, issues, or concerns
Coordinates patient status (enrollments, disenrollments, hospitalizations, etc.) with vendor pharmacy
Documents any interactions with vendor pharmacy and participants
Accurately documents any medication incidents and subsequent resolutions
Communicates with medical staff when orders, refills, or changes in medication orders are needed by pharmacy
Facilitates obtaining medications from specialty pharmacies as required (ACS, etc.)
Assists in maintaining inventory levels and checking expiration dates for medication stocked in the PACE clinic
Assists in stocking the vendor pharmacy automated dispensing machines and communicating any needs or issues to vendor pharmacy
Communicates with the vendor pharmacy delivery drivers/couriers
Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, committees, and work groups as applicable
Job Requirements Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
1 year of recent experience as a Certified Medication Technician or Pharmacy Technician preferred
1 year of experience working with the elderly population preferred
Licenses/Certifications
Current Medication Technician Certification or Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred
Valid Florida Driver’s License and Auto Insurance
Abilities Required
Bilingual English/Spanish; knowledge of Creole a plus
Ability to get along with others in an interdisciplinary team environment
Functional Demands Environment Work Conditions
Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation
Physical Requirements
Ability to assist transferring patients and ambulation which may involve lifting, pushing, and pulling of patients from 50-150 pounds
