Machine Operator – Utility
at
Atlas Tube , a division of
Zekelman Industries , in Kansas City, MO, you will be responsible for setting up and operating high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and committed to safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Schedule & Pay
Shift: 3rd Shift – 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM
Pay: $20.00–$32.00 USD per hour, plus production incentive bonus (average $3.00–$5.00 per hour)
What You’ll Do
Observe all safety and lockout/tagout (LOTO) rules to operate equipment efficiently and effectively.
Perform advanced equipment setup and calibration to meet production requirements.
Inspect materials for quality issues before, during, and after production.
Record and report quality deficiencies to supervisors or the quality department.
Maintain equipment tooling and tools required for job completion.
Diagnose equipment and quality issues while minimizing scrap and downtime.
Complete production, changeover, and scrap material reports accurately.
Assist maintenance teams with equipment repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
Participate in continuous improvement programs to enhance operational efficiency.
Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule.
Lead and promote health and safety work practices in accordance with company policy and regulatory standards.
Who You Are
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Ability to read and write English and maintain production records and logs.
Manufacturing or industrial experience (preferred).
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.
Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other equipment required for the role.
Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
Physical Abilities
Ability to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles for extended periods.
Ability to perform constant movement requiring manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
Ability to remain in a stationary position for several hours when required.
Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
Ability to stand for 10–12 hours.
Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
