Position Summary This position is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing commercial kitchen equipment, performing general building maintenance tasks and preventative maintenance for equipment and dining facilities. General maintenance tasks will consist of performing a variety of physical labor tasks at variable rates to include plumbing, electrical work, painting, wall covering, low-grade construction, etc. This position will be assigned work order tasks daily by the Maintenance Foreman and provide status updates on the completion of tasks by providing and maintaining service reports. If needed, this position will be responsible for submitting work orders to the Facilities Management Division (FMD) for maintenance tasks beyond the scope of the work for the position.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/Or Competencies

Troubleshooting skills for commercial kitchen equipment using schematic and manuals.

Basic plumbing, electrical work, and general maintenance skills.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Develop and maintain professional relationships with a wide range of staff and various customer groups, also demonstrates supportive involvement in work environment.

Work as a team member, but also make effective independent decisions and follow through on assignments.

Efficiently utilize a variety of computer applications in the completion of assigned tasks.

Physical Demands

Climb stairs and ladders, may work from a ladder or scaffold.

Bend at the waist and knees.

Work with arms and hands overhead for an extended period.

Use, care and maintain hand tools and power tools.

Navigate and maneuver through confined spaces, crawling in utility tunnels, attics, pipe chases, etc.

Lift and move items of 75 pounds in weight, both assisted and unassisted.

May occasionally perform work related duties outdoors in hot or cold temperature conditions.

Safely operate a UGA state vehicle, as necessary.

Duties / Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and repair commercial kitchen equipment utilizing schematics and manuals to complete task. Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on all commercial kitchen equipment. Complete and maintain service reports and parts order forms. (60% of time)

Perform a wide variety of mechanical and building trade tasks in the maintenance and repair of Dining Services facilities including plumbing, electrical work, painting, simple construction and fabrication. Perform inspections and preventative maintenance for all Dining facilities. If needed, submit work orders to the Facilities Management Division (FMD). (25% of time)

Assist with special projects for building and equipment maintenance. (5% of time)

Participate in training sessions and departmental meetings and provide feedback and input to improve departmental policies and procedures.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
