Spurwink . The Patient Accounts Benefit Specialist contributes by ensuring accurate client information for billing.
Responsibilities
Contact all payor types (Medicare, MaineCare, third party, self-pay, etc.) to gather health benefit information for new/scheduled clients within Agency determined timeframe (target of 24 hours).
Provide direct support to all Programs regarding authorization and utilization activities.
Perform other insurance verifications and patient accounts duties such as generating and reviewing denial reports, assisting all department staff with questions and follow up on accounts past due or denied for payment, and perform verification requests for all coverage terminations.
Assist in A/R related matters for the year-end audit, internal QA audits, or audits by third-party funding agencies.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Two or more years of experience with Medicare, MaineCare, and other third-party payers, specifically with authorizations, insurance verifications and medical billing procedures.
