Associate Civil Engineer - Remote - California Interwest Consulting Group was founded in 2002 and has become a leader in providing municipal services to cities and counties throughout the Western United States. We are seeking a motivated
Associate Civil Engineer
to join our Public Works team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to public infrastructure projects while developing technical and professional skills within a collaborative, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with plan checking for encroachment permits; land development grading plans, street plans, water & sewer plans, drainage plans, drainage studies,
Review traffic control plans for compliance with applicable standards
Coordinate with utilities, contractors, consultants, and municipal departments
Support construction management activities, including resolving field issues when needed
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and project correspondence
Provide Capital Improvement Plan project support to senior engineers and public works staff
Required Skills & Knowledge
Understanding of engineering principles related to public works, utilities, and/or land development projects
Familiarity with land development and CEQA is preferred
Awareness of relevant local, state, and federal regulations applicable to public works and development projects
Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Office required)
Exposure to AutoCAD 3D, GIS, ArcView, or ArcInfo is a plus
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or active progress toward a California PE license preferred
