Opportunity As an entry‑level Electrical Engineer, you will help address some of the world's most pressing infrastructure challenges. You will work on a wide range of projects and contribute to the growth and success of Black & Veatch, assigned to a functional area within our Substation department.
Responsibilities
Develop familiarity by reading, understanding, and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and Black & Veatch policies.
Support Black & Veatch’s quality program and participate in continuous improvement and change management efforts.
Contribute to the preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope.
Conduct routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or material selection.
Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work.
Prepare basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
Understand and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
Share information with others as requested and coordinate with teammates when directed by supervisor or project leadership.
Focus on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while gaining a basic understanding of external client interests and drivers; may provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes with the team.
Preferred Qualifications
Coursework and knowledge of Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three Phase Power Calculations.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Previous internship experience.
Basic knowledge of engineering design principles, design guides, and standards.
Awareness of industry trends and developing technologies.
Fundamental knowledge of construction practices and principles.
Skilled in problem solving, written communication, informing, and peer relationships.
Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program in the applicant’s country of residence. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (e.g., criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Work Environment Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
