Corrections Program Specialist – DHS/DCR Eastern Regional Jail – Berkeley County
The Corrections Program Specialist will serve as the ACA Accreditation Manager for a caseload of facilities within the Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Responsibilities include maintaining a division-wide auditing method, ensuring operational compliance with agency policies, developing action plans and after‑action reports, conducting on‑site reviews and verifications of records and observations, interviewing staff, providing training on standards, and assisting the Director of Correctional Policy and Compliance with policy development.
Location Eastern Regional Jail, Martinsburg Correctional Center, and Vicki Douglas Juvenile Center. Travel required.
Salaries & Pay Minimum Special Hiring Rate:
$40,702
In accordance with SPB 3088 effective 10/7/23, $5,000 will be added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility.
Employees in this classification shall receive an annual base building pay differential each fiscal year of $250 after completing one year of service.
If an employee is hired into a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility (CVPF) and leaves the facility, the additional pay differential of $5,000 shall be removed from their salary, unless transferring to another CVPF.
Qualifications Training:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, social work or related behavioral or social science field.
Substitution:
Additional full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience as described below may substitute for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty (30) semester hours of required training.
Experience:
Two (2) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid professional experience in a corrections, probation/parole, law enforcement, social work, recreation, religion, or related behavioral or social science field.
Substitution:
Graduate coursework in the same fields may substitute for the required experience at the rate of fifteen (15) semester hours of training for every one (1) year of experience.
