Overview Founded in 1925, Ballston Spa Country Club is one of the capital region's best kept secrets among avid golfers in Saratoga County. Our Semi-Private club features a unique and challenging 18-hole championship golf course located at the foothills of the Adirondack mountains outside of the historical Saratoga Springs race course.

Our club's inviting atmosphere, excellent course conditions, and thriving membership have enabled continuous growth and enhancement each year. In 2025, we proudly marked our Centennial-celebrating 100 years-and introduced our newly opened clubhouse to the capital region.

Ballston Spa Country Club is seeking an experienced and self-motivated PGA Head Professional to lead the club's golf operations as we enter a new era at our club. This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a motivated leader to shape the golf operations of our club.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter committed to delivering outstanding service to our members, guests, and the golfing public. The PGA Head Professional will collaborate closely with our Golf Course Superintendent, Restaurant Vendor, Business Manager, and club leadership to foster ongoing growth and success for the club and its membership.

The PGA Head Golf Professional is responsible for overseeing, managing, and administering all golf-related activities at Ballston Spa Country Club. This role includes the supervision of daily golf operations, staff, merchandising, instructional programming, tournament management, and member service standards. The PGA Head Golf Professional ensures all golf operations support the club's mission, policies, and service expectations, while complying with PGA code of ethics and relevant regulations.

Experience Required Education and Professional Credentials

Class A PGA Professional in good standing (required).

Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Sports Management, or related field (preferred).

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in golf operations, with experience in a private club environment preferred.

Demonstrated success in staff management, tournament operations, instruction, and merchandising.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Excellent communication (both written and verbal), problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

Proficiency with golf management systems (e.g., Golf Genius, Club Prophet, ForeTees, Jonas, ClubEssential, etc.).

Financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and data analysis.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Ability to lift and move up to 60 pounds.

Ability to work in outdoor environments and variable weather conditions.

Availability to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required by the golf season.

Professional Semi-private club setting.

Frequent interaction with members, guests, vendors, and staff.

Fast-paced environment with fluctuating demands during peak season.

Essential Responsibilities Golf Operations Management

Direct and manage daily golf operations, including tee sheet oversight, pace of play monitoring, practice facility management, and golfer services.

Frequent and open communication with the Board of Directors including attending monthly board meetings.

Enforce club policies, rules, and regulations related to business operations.

Coordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent regarding course conditions, maintenance schedules, and operational impacts.

Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality service to members and guests.

Staff Management and Development

Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise all golf operations personnel.

Conduct performance evaluations and administer disciplinary action when necessary.

Implement staff development programs and ensure compliance with PGA code of ethics.

Promote a professional, safe, and service-driven work environment.

Tournament and Event Administration

Plan, organize, and execute the club's annual tournament schedule, including member events, leagues, and outside outings.

Oversee event preparation, pairings, scoring, rules application, and post-event reporting.

Ensure all events adhere to club standards for fairness, quality, and professionalism.

Instructional Programs

Provide golf instruction through private lessons, group clinics, and player development initiatives.

Develop programs for players of all skill levels and ages.

Maintain current knowledge of teaching methodologies, technologies, and best practices.

Merchandising and Retail Operations

Manage all aspects of the golf shop, including product selection, vendor relations, purchasing, pricing, inventory control, and visual presentation.

Prepare and monitor retail budgets, sales forecasts, and financial reporting.

Ensure the golf shop is clean and orderly.

Financial and Administrative Responsibilities

Develop and administer the annual golf operations and merchandising budgets.

Monitor revenue streams, expenses, cost‑of‑goods, payroll, and financial performance.

Maintain accurate records of tournaments, inventory, instruction, and operational activities.

Prepare reports as requested by the Board of Directors.

Member Engagement and Communication

Maintain strong relationships with members, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and responsiveness.

Communicate operational updates, event information, and instructional offerings through newsletters, digital platforms, and in‑person interaction.

Address member inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.

Safety and Compliance

Ensure all golf operations adhere to club policies, state and local regulations, and PGA standards.

Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment for staff and golfers.

Oversee safety protocols related to equipment, facilities, and weather conditions.
