Job Summary:
The Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, seeks a full‑time faculty member to provide inpatient psychiatric services at East Central Regional Hospital (ECRH) and to mentor medical students, residents, and fellows. This position is not tenure‑track.
Responsibilities
Provide adult inpatient psychiatric care at ECRH on one of the psychiatric units (AMH‑Adult Mental Health, GMH‑General Mental Health, or forensic unit).
Supervise, instruct, and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows during clinical rotations.
Participate in didactic lectures to medical students, residents, and fellows on appropriate topics.
Assist in creation and organization of new learning materials and initiatives.
Conduct bedside teaching for medical students, residents, and fellows.
Required Qualifications
MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent with training in psychiatry.
Board‑eligible in psychiatry and become board‑certified within 2 years.
Assistant Professor‑early level career with appropriate postgraduate training.
Experience meeting Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges requirements (SACSCOC) for institutional accreditation.
Evidence as an effective teacher, scholar, and performer of academic duties.
Successful experience in academic roles (waived for new entrants meeting other requirements).
Desirable personal qualities assessed by interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift, Salary, and Benefits The position is fiscal‑year based, year‑round, with an FTE of 1.0. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and subject to funding availability. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, generous retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more. The Tuition Assistance Program is available to full‑time employees with at least six months’ service.
