In this customer service role, the successful candidate will assist patrons in a very busy branch with using online resources and public computers in addition to providing circulation services. The role also involves shelving, processing book donations, processing daily delivery of materials, and special projects under the guidance of librarians. The position requires an 18‑hour week, including nights, weekends, and assigned Sunday afternoon shifts.
Essential Functions
Circulate and manage information services: check books in and out, register patrons for library cards, and register patrons for voter registration cards.
Collect fines for overdue books.
Assist in maintaining daily statistics.
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of library materials, services, and programs.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
At least six months of work experience involving public interaction/customer service.
Physical Abilities Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5–10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
