THE POSITION Are you an experienced fiscal professional with a talent for leadership and a strong attention to detail? The Pennsylvania State Police is looking for a Fiscal Technician Supervisory to join the Bureau of Records and Identification, Firearms Administrative Section. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will be responsible for accurately processing surcharge remittance forms and Application/Record of Sale forms submitted by Firearm Dealers throughout the state. This involves verifying information, completing required account adjustments, reviewing discrepancies, posting information to dealer’s account, and processing reconciling information from the dealer transaction logs with Surcharge Remittance Reports submitted by firearm dealers.

You will be responsible for conducting audits of dealer accounts and making recommendations to auditors for corrective action regarding non-compliant dealers. Work involves supervising duties such as providing guidance, direction, and training; reviewing leave requests; assisting employees with difficult and unfamiliar situations; evaluating performance; and participating in the interview and selection process of subordinates. You will also be expected to establish and maintain working relationships with dealers and county sheriffs.

Additional responsibilities include:

Identifying missing transactions and/or delinquent payments to rectify accounts

Preparing statements and worksheets to identify line item debits and credits to the account

Notifying auditors of any procedural problems or potential criminal violations regarding the dealer’s account

Compiling case files for accounts upon identification of potential violations of the Pennsylvania Uniform Firearms Act

Assisting auditors in conducting on-site audits and training seminars

Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full-time employment

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch

Telework: Not allowed in this position

Salary: Starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes) for new employees with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

QUALIFICATIONS Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

One year as a Fiscal Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)

Three years of work involving the maintenance of fiscal or financial records, including one year of responsible work which involves the application of accounting or fiscal principles and practices; and graduation from high school

One year of experience in maintaining and reviewing fiscal records and an associate degree in accounting or business administration

Any equivalent combination of experience and training

Must pass criminal history and background investigations if you do not have a current Pennsylvania State Police background on file.
