Material Handler
is responsible for facilitating inbound and outbound functions of processing merchandise to fulfill customer orders. These tasks must be completed to an efficient and accurate standard to ensure smooth operations. These positions require use of our internal warehouse systems and various equipment. Some, but not all, roles may include Powered Industrial Trucks.
Responsibilities
Unload live domestic deliveries from trailers using forklift equipment, or unload import containers by hand. Use our ERP system to systematically receive inventory accurately and efficiently, ready to be placed in storage racking. Move palletized product using pallet jacks/forklift equipment to organize the receiving dock, or transport product to other areas of the Distribution Center. Scan and place inventory in racking locations using forklift equipment and a handheld scanning device, ready for warehouse operations. Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, and computers, following all established protocols and promoting safe working standards. Meet all expected performance standards regarding efficiency, accuracy and quality of work. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following all safety guidelines and reporting any hazards to the appropriate leadership. Work closely with team members and leadership to meet daily, weekly, and monthly departmental goals. Abide by all company and warehouse policies. Flex into other positions and departments and undertake additional duties as necessary to support the overall operation.
Outbound
Pull warehouse stock to fulfill orders as they are processed to ensure that customers receive orders in a short time frame and as accurately as possible. Complete orders so that they can be shipped in full to the customer. Safely operate and maintain warehouse equipment to carry out job duties to ensure a safe work environment. Utilize various hand tools to successfully complete job duties. Keep work zone clean and orderly so that the warehouse is a safe and clean work environment. Communicate with Manager with any issues or concerns that arise regarding work duties. Operate handheld electronic devices to scan and record picks. Meet all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly performance metrics. Work in a team environment.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing. Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching. Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.
Experience & Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, order pickers, etc. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to quickly adapt as business needs change; address difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence. Customer service‑oriented attitude with a desire to exceed expectations.
Language Skills
Business proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
Education & Desired Traits & Skills
This role does not require a degree. We value relevant skills and experience and alignment with our core values above all else. Desired traits: 1 year+ of relevant experience in a distribution environment preferred but not required.
