Job Summary The Senior Sous Chef supports the Executive Chef in overseeing daily culinary operations for Rhodes College. This role plays a key part in food production, menu execution, catering, and team leadership. The Senior Sous Chef helps ensure high standards of quality, consistency, and presentation while maintaining food safety and cost controls. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated culinary professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment and mentors kitchen teams.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Executive Chef in overall management of the culinary department
Assist with menu planning, recipe development, and daily food preparation
Supervise, train, and support hourly culinary associates
Execute daily service and catered events with a focus on quality and presentation
Assist with food ordering, inventory, and cost control initiatives
Help implement new culinary programs and concepts in partnership with company culinary and marketing teams
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards
Preferred Qualifications
Culinary degree or certificate (A.O.S. preferred) or equivalent professional experience
Progressive culinary or kitchen leadership experience
Catering experience preferred
Experience in high‑volume, complex foodservice operations strongly preferred
Institutional or batch cooking experience a plus
Strong knowledge of culinary trends, food quality, production standards, sanitation, and cost controls
Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and email
ServSafe certification strongly preferred
