Jack In The Box - Assistant Restaurant Manager Position Summary: Responsible for managing restaurant operations in conjunction with or in the absence of the Restaurant Manager. Uses discretion in daily management decisions with accountability for ensuring effective execution of the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and Brand Promise. Provides excellent internal and external service, builds restaurant sales and profit while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Internal Service:

Recruits, selects, trains, develops, and evaluates restaurant employees; monitors staffing levels; implements training systems; identifies and develops internal candidates for management and Team Leader; creates a friendly, fun, clean and safe environment; treats all employees with care and respect; motivates and inspires high performance; recognizes and rewards employees; complies with all labor laws.

External Service:

Manages daily activities to achieve operational excellence; trains employees and holds them accountable for guest service and food quality; monitors adherence to JIB systems, procedures, and food safety requirements; maintains brand image by ensuring consistent food quality, cleanliness, and maintenance; serves as a role model for guest service.

Higher Profits:

Partners with the Restaurant Manager to analyze operational and financial performance (I&E, quality and service reports, health inspections, HACCP) each reporting period; identifies trends and implements action plans; uses data to analyze business results; protects the JIB brand; monitors costs and budget goals.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 1+ years as a Shift Leader or Assistant Manager in a customer service environment; 100% certified in all workstations. Assistant Manager experience with some P&L responsibility for 3+ years.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Minimum age 18, Assistant Manager training completed, ServSafe certified, valid driver’s license and insurance, ability to operate a motor vehicle, and basic computer skills. Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and planning skills; self‑starter.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk 85‑95% of shift, lift 10–65 lbs, move freely, operate equipment, drive a motor vehicle, and use a computer keyboard.
