Assistant Store Manager (Store 6069)

Job Overview Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. Using GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, you will develop and promote a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provide best‑in‑class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions and concerns quickly and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items; thank every guest for shopping at GameStop.
Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
Process guest purchases/return transactions accurately using the POS system; provide receipts and ensure top‑notch guest service.
Respond to guest comments or questions on the phone or in person, using the phone greeting provided by GameStop; elevate customer issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
Promote GameStop’s guest benefits (reservations, trade‑in program, Pro Rewards).
Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for associates and training them in all aspects of their job responsibilities.
Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance.
Provide timely recognition and feedback to all store associates and input written feedback into Workday or HR service management system.
Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training before opening or closing a shift on their own.
In partnership with the Store Manager, schedule staff and supervise staffing levels to achieve optimum guest service.
Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify that associates are paid for all time worked.
Maintain all store areas clean, organized, and merchandised per company guidelines.
Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
Apply effective inventory control and loss prevention practices; visually inspect associates’ packages and communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
Support the store team in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative and operational duties.
Perform inventory counts; restock merchandise and move products to the front of the store.
Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals accurately; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposit slips.
Verify shipments for discrepancies and record them in the POS system.
Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately and promptly.
Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety and report any injuries promptly.
Assist in maintaining store records/files in a neat and organized manner.
Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Consistently adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
Adhere to all opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
At least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field preferred.
At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
Video game knowledge preferred.
