Basic Function:

Inspect and test products as part of a quality inspection group to verify that BUI products meet customer requirements. This person is expected to use effective technical mathematics, measurement tools, and statistical techniques in the performance of tasks. This position is a significant component of the Bullen Quality System.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform final inspections and complete all appropriate documentation.

Know and understand final product specification criteria prior to performing final inspections.

Perform receiving inspections as needed.

Complete shipping and receiving operations as needed.

Accurately complete required documentation, both written and electronic, cross checking data entries to assure an accurate input.

Operation of equipment according to training which includes: Comparators, Measuring Microscopes, Visual Microscopes and Coordinate Measuring Machines.

Develop and maintain job proficiency through on the job opportunities, in house training, inter-departmental interactions and continuous improvement activities that target company goals.

Maintain thorough knowledge of safe work area practices and apply that knowledge consistently during the performance of daily tasks.

Properly handle product to maintain integrity of quality.

Perform tasks in both group and individual environments.

Manage time effectively by adhering to time standards per part.

Ensure the cleanliness and order of inspection and workstations.

Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate.

Carry out special projects and other additional duties as assigned.

Personnel Authority. This position has no delegated personnel authority.

Financial Authority. This position has no delegated financial authority.

Must work effectively with organizational personnel with various degrees of education, work experience and understand quality terms.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.

The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat and vibration, increased noise level and outside weather conditions.

The noise level in the Quality Department environment is moderate.

Qualifications

Must be a high school graduate or have a general education degree (GED).

Must have computer skills.

Know and understand inspection criteria prior to performing inspection functions.

Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages.

Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must be able to work effectively individually and in a team environment.

Must be able to pay close attention to details.

Must be able to assess and interpret drawings and specifications for machining and inspection results.

Must be able to perform successfully under minimum supervision.

Must be able to attain sufficient task success to establish credibility with management, staff and employees.

Ability to problem solve.

The employee is frequently required to lift up to 10 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and ability to pass the Bullen Ultrasonics’ Quality Personnel Vision Standard Certification (reference form# BUI-HR-101a).
