Position Summary The Pharmacy Technician provides high-quality support to pharmacists while delivering exceptional customer service to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers. This role is responsible for accurately processing prescriptions, assisting with compounding preparation (as delegated), maintaining inventory, and ensuring a positive, compliant, and professional experience for every customer. The technician operates in accordance with Colorado Board of Pharmacy regulations, USP standards applicable to the pharmacy’s operations (e.g., USP

), and all internal policies.

Front‑End Customer Service

Greet patients and customers warmly, ensuring a professional and welcoming front‑end experience.

Provide clear, courteous assistance regarding prescriptions, refill processes, wait times, and pharmacy services.

Answer phones, respond to customer inquiries, and route calls appropriately.

Handle patient concerns or issues with professionalism, escalating to the pharmacist when needed.

Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and internal privacy standards.

Dispensing & Prescription Processing

Accurately enter, process, and update patient and prescription information in the pharmacy system.

Prepare prescription labels and compound medications for pharmacist verification.

Compound accurately for Creams, capsules, troches and other dosage forms.

Measure, compound, count and package medications.

Support compounding activities by preparing materials, maintaining clean workspaces, and following technique protocols as trained and delegated.

Assist pharmacists in ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance at every processing step.

Receive, stock, and organize medication and supply orders; rotate inventory and manage expirations.

Monitor stock levels and alert supervisors of shortages or ordering needs.

Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment, including customer‑facing areas.

Operate the pharmacy point‑of‑sale system, reconcile daily transactions, and maintain cash‑handling accuracy.

Regulatory Compliance

Support compliance with Colorado Board of Pharmacy rules, DEA requirements, and applicable USP guidelines.

Participate in required trainings, audits, quality checks, and documentation processes.

Maintain active CPHT and Colorado Pharmacy Technician license with DORA.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Active Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the ability to obtain PTCB within 10 months of hire.

One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a professional environment.

1+ year of pharmacy, medical, or customer service experience (compounding experience preferred but not required).

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Advanced computer proficiency and comfort with pharmacy software systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a compounding pharmacy setting (non‑sterile).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Work may involve exposure to chemicals or medications, including hazardous drugs, with required PPE provided.
