Minimum Qualifications

Registration as a Registered Nurse and advanced training and experience acquired through a Nurse Practitioner program in a relevant specialty area and three years of related experience.

Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of Missouri (some positions).

Certification as an Adult Medical Nurse Practitioner (ANP) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (some positions).

Certification as an Obstetrical and Gynecological Nurse Practitioner or equivalent (some positions).

Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (some positions).

Certification as a Women's Healthcare Nurse Practitioner (some positions).

Certification as a Diabetic Educator by the American Diabetic Association (some positions).

Document of Recognition as an Advance Practice Nurse (APN) by the Missouri State Board of Nursing (some positions).

Selection and Appointment A selection committee evaluates each applicant’s qualifications, including education, experience, supplemental questions, employment references, etc. Candidates are shortlisted based on the most job‑related qualifications and may be required to achieve a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview. The top five candidates are certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority for the final decision. Conditional offers require urinalysis screening for illegal drug use before appointment, at no cost to the employee.
