Job Description Position Summary The Facilities Technician ensures safe and efficient operation of facility and production support systems by performing inspections, maintenance, repairs, and assisting with equipment installations. This role also maintains building and grounds, documents work, and supports safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Functions & Responsibilities
Follows all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Performs duties in a safe manner and reports all observed safety hazards to management. Acts as a role model for Safety on shift. Participates in safety programs by reporting Unsafe Conditions, Unsafe Acts and Close Calls; enters Near Miss data and Observations into Global Data Center Database (GDC).
Regularly inspects and maintains production support equipment including but not limited to Material Handling System, Printers, and Facility Maintenance.
Assists with assembly, installation, disassembly, and demolition of production equipment and building support equipment as required for upgrades or new installations.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area; meets plant and department housekeeping standards. May be assigned additional responsibilities as needed to maintain a clean and orderly work space.
Accurately records/documents detailed information regarding work performed.
Works with contractors as needed for maintenance or project work.
Maintains building and grounds.
Participates in employee‑driven teams and continuous improvement projects to address scrap, quality, safety or other production related issues.
Other duties as assigned or requested.
Required Experience, Skills, & Abilities Education And/or Experience Knowledge of specialized field gained through specialized training equivalent to one year of college or trade school or equivalent experience of four to five years preferred.
Experience In addition to the educational requirements, two to four years of experience in industrial and facility repair. Must possess basic mechanical skills. Must demonstrate ability to follow written and verbal instructions with little or no supervision. Ability to read mechanical drawings and documentation. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and equipment.
Other Skills And Abilities
Computer Skills – Experience with Microsoft Office products desirable.
Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit to prepare reports and use computer equipment, walking to inspect facility including raw materials, work‑in‑process, finished goods and overall manufacturing and warehouse operations. Employees in this position are required to exert up to 60 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 40 pounds of force regularly; frequently will lift up to 30 pounds.
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often subject to changing priorities, time pressures and constraints, and a high level of job‑related stress. Work is performed on the manufacturing floor where the work environment is noisy and hearing protection is required for all employees. Employees must be able to wear other PPE such as eye and foot protection as required. Ability to work overtime as required.
