About Alpha Alpha School offers the opportunity to design and lead an AI-powered reading program capable of producing more measurable literacy gains in 2 hours than conventional schools achieve during an entire school day. You will create adaptive workshop formats, interpret live student performance data, and work alongside engineers to develop literacy technologies that extend your instructional reach to hundreds of learners.
This position integrates direct student instruction with strategic program design, allowing you to influence individual reading trajectories while constructing a system that delivers foundational literacy at scale across multiple school sites.
What You Will Be Doing
Leading adaptive reading workshops focused on building core competencies in phonics, fluency, and comprehension
Creating individualized motivational experiences that engage students and foster enduring enthusiasm for reading
Reviewing student performance data to iteratively improve instructional methods and identify actionable patterns
Partnering with engineering teams to assess and refine AI-powered literacy platforms
Basic Requirements
Bachelor's degree plus advanced certification in reading instruction (such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or comparable program)
Minimum of 2 years conducting small-group reading interventions with early elementary students
Capable of independently assessing reading proficiency, organizing student groups, and creating differentiated lessons without relying on pre-packaged curriculum
Comfortable using AI and adaptive learning platforms, with ability to respond to student interaction patterns within these systems
Authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship
Available to work on-site at one of the following locations: Chantilly (Washington), VA; Lake Forest (Orange County), CA; San Francisco, CA; Miami, FL; or New York City, NY
Working with us This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The role is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $60 USD/hour, which equates to $120,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
