Islamorada, Village of Islands The Fire Prevention Inspector will be responsible for managing all areas of the Fire Department’s fire inspection, plan review, and prevention programs. Functions and activities include administration, code inspections and enforcement, construction plans and specification review, public fire and life safety education, fire investigation, research, statistics, and evaluation. Minimum Qualifications: Associate's Degree in Fire Science or equivalent amount of comparable education and experience required. Five (5) years of experience in a fire rescue supervisory level, preferably in fire prevention. Must have the following certifications with the State of Florida: Certified Firefighter, Certified EMT or Paramedic, Certified Fire Inspector, Certified Fire Instructor, current Advanced Life Support card if paramedic. Preferred professional qualifications for Fire/Arson Investigator and Public Fire and Life Safety Educator. Training in management, control and mitigation of hazardous materials incidents; training in emergency management and disaster response, planning and mitigation. Must be trained, experienced and otherwise qualified to drive fire apparatus and emergency medical care vehicles, and maintain the appropriate class of Florida driver’s license; and completion of an approved EVOC course in accordance with Florida Statutes.
